Lantana

Grow lantana in well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5 and low to moderate fertility. Avoid excess nitrogen, which favors leaves over flowers; check local invasive-plant guidance before planting in warm regions.

Tips
- Set plants at nursery depth at least 24 inches apart, allowing more room for large cultivars.
- Water deeply while plants establish, then let the surface soil dry between waterings.
- Use little fertilizer in beds and remove faded clusters when practical to limit seed production.
- Inspect leaf undersides for whiteflies and stippled leaves from lace bugs.
- Keep lantana berries and other plant parts away from children and pets because they are toxic if swallowed.
