Carrot
Celery

Celery needs rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil at pH 6.0-7.0. Work in compost, feed regularly with modest nitrogen applications, and never let the shallow root zone dry out if you want tender stalks.
- Sun
- Full sun
- Water
- Even moisture; about 1 in/week including rain
- Spacing
- 10 in
- First harvest
- 100–130 days
Tips
- Start seed indoors 10-12 weeks before planting out, pressing it onto moist mix because light aids germination.
- Transplant 8-12 inches apart after prolonged cold weather has passed, keeping crowns at their original depth.
- Water frequently enough to maintain even moisture and mulch to reduce drying.
- Side-dress every 3-4 weeks during active growth and check for aphids and leaf spots, avoiding overhead watering.
- Cut outer stalks as needed or harvest the whole plant when the bunch is full and stalks are firm.
