Brassica
Arugula

Arugula grows best in cool weather and well-drained soil around pH 6.0-7.0 enriched with compost. Moderate fertility is sufficient; even moisture and frequent picking help keep leaves tender before heat brings stronger flavor and bolting.
- Sun
- Full sun to part shade
- Water
- Even moisture; about 1 in/week including rain
- Spacing
- 4 in
- First harvest
- 20โ40 days
Tips
- Sow 1/4 inch deep every 2-3 weeks during cool weather and thin to 4-6 inches for mature plants.
- Keep shallow roots moist with about 1 inch of water weekly.
- Use a light nitrogen feeding only if leaves are pale or regrowth stalls in a low-fertility bed.
- Cover seedlings with fine insect mesh to prevent flea beetles from riddling leaves.
- Cut leaves when 2-4 inches long, leaving the growing point intact for another picking.
